Description
GENENCARE XL is a highly purified xylitol derived from wood (upcycled from paper production side streams). It works as both a humectant and a prebiotic agent. As a humectant, it attracts and retains water in the stratum corneum. As a prebiotic, it maintains microbiome diversity and stimulates lactate production by Staphylococcus epidermidis, which helps maintain skin hydration and a healthy pH. Additionally, when used in crystalline form, it provides an endothermic (cooling) effect upon dissolution in water. It also strengthens the skin barrier by improving lipid layer organization and accelerating the release (exocytosis) of lamellar bodies.
