GENENCARE OSMS BA is a highly purified, natural anhydrous betaine (trimethylglycine) extracted from sugar beet. It functions primarily as an osmolyte—a molecule that manages cell water balance by attracting and holding onto moisture to protect cells against hydric stress. On the skin, it reinforces the stratum corneum's barrier by strengthening tight junctions (increasing claudin and occludin expression), which reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). On the hair, it uses its natural affinity for keratin to bind to damage sites, penetrating the cortex to strengthen the internal structure and mitigate irritation caused by surfactants.
